New resources for your campus from the USCCB

  • The USCCB just released the online version of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults (USCCA). The USCCA is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, walking the reader through the Creed, the sacraments, moral life in Christ and the prayers of the Church. Each chapter contains a story about a saint, blessed, or holy man or woman, a brief overview of the topic, reflection questions and a prayer. It’s a great resource for RCIA programs, faith sharing groups, and other students wanting to learn more about their faith. The USCCA is available in English and in Spanish.

  • Did you know that Pope Francis declared this upcoming year the Year of Consecrated Life? College campuses are important places where young people learn about different vocations in the world as they discern their own vocations. The USCCB put together a page of resources that celebrate religious life, including videos, prayers, and lists of events. The National Religious Vocation Conference also has a list of resources available for those who want to learn about and celebrate women and men in the consecrated life.

  • Are you a campus minister? The Campus Ministry Leadership Institute 2014 is a five-day training and working institute gathering student leaders and campus ministers from across the country as campus teams.  The institute is designed to produce effective leaders who work collaboratively to develop and implement successful Catholic Campus Ministry programs on college campuses, both private and public. Respect Life Month Resources

This October, the Catholic Church throughout the United States will observe Respect Life Month, a commemoration that is now in its 43rd year. Beginning October 5, Respect Life Sunday, our nation’s Catholics will be called to renew their personal commitment to defend all human life. Our resources can help your campus community consider the sanctity of all life:

The Catholic Mobilizing Network’s booklet – “Renewing the Culture of Life: The Death Penalty, Restorative Justice and Catholic Social Teaching” – shares Church teaching against the death penalty referencing recent papal statements and the Scriptures. It is a great resource for distributing after Mass or at pro-life exhibit tables and is available in English and Spanish. You may order these via our mail/fax form here. Additionally, you can learn about CMN’s poster initiative focusing on the death penalty here.

Interested in gathering with others to learn about Church teaching on the death penalty? The Catholic Mobilizing Network offers a workshop on Church teaching and the death penalty, as well as lesson plans and other resources for college students.
